Stranger Danger: Building Safe & Strong Kids at Purebred HQ Agana Guam

A Guide to Keeping Our Little Warriors Safe, Smart & Strong

At Purebred HQ, we believe jiu-jitsu isn’t just about what happens on the mat — it’s about preparing our kids for life. And one of the most important lessons we can pass on to our youngest students is how to stay safe around strangers.

Whether it’s their first class or they’ve been training with us for years, this is a skill that every child can learn — with the support of their coaches, their classmates, and most importantly, their parents.

👶 What is a Stranger? (And Why It’s Okay to Talk About It)

We explain to our 3–5 year olds in simple, clear language:

A stranger is anyone we don’t know.
Even if they look nice, sound friendly, or offer a treat — if Mommy, Daddy, or a trusted adult hasn’t introduced them, they are a stranger.

We don’t teach this to make kids scared. We teach it so they can stay aware, calm, and confident in any situation.

What We Teach at Purebred HQ

Our Stranger Danger curriculum is designed specifically for early childhood ages. Through drills, stories, and role-playing, our students learn:

  • ✅ How to recognize a stranger
  • ✅ The importance of staying close to trusted adults
  • ✅ How to say “NO!” with confidence
  • ✅ When and how to run to safety
  • ✅ What to do if they feel unsafe
  • ✅ Why it’s important to memorize their name and a parent’s phone number
  • ✅ The power of using a Family Password
  • ✅ Practicing with parents at home

We keep things light, empowering, and action-based — just like the rest of our jiu-jitsu training.

🏠 What Parents Can Do at Home

Stranger danger doesn’t stop at the academy. You can reinforce these safety lessons at home in easy, everyday ways:

  • Role-play different scenarios (e.g., someone offering a toy, asking for help, or claiming to know the child)

  • Create and practice using a family password

  • Practice saying “No!” loudly with strong body language

  • Teach your child their full name and your contact number

  • Emphasize that it’s okay to tell a grown-up if something doesn’t feel right
